About Us

Meet Karen!

Karen Bates joined forces with Terry Tobey on June 7, 2012 and the fabric and quilt store, Sew Creative was born. With a lot of help from family and friends, their store opened less than 1 month later on July 1, 2012.

Located in Ashland Oregon's original opera house, a beautiful brick building on Main Street, Sew Creative is a place to explore your artistic desires, find interesting and different fabrics, patterns and ideas.

Classes and clubs meet upstairs while the downstairs contains a gallery of quilts, gifts and fabrics.

Karen worked for a number of years at Quiltz in Ashland and has written 4 quilt books and designed numerous quilt patterns. She loves sharing her thirty plus years of quilting knowledge with her customers and students.

Although no longer a partner, Terry is still sharing her passion for quilting with our customers by teaching classes and running the Fabric Collector's Club.

The goal for Karen and her wonderful staff is to make Sew Creative a joyful meeting place for everyone who loves fabric.
